Well, here we are at the end of the summer. It has been a very busy one for us with the conventions and our regular jobs here at home. Hopefully, you all survived and are ready to settle into your regular fall programs. We sincerely hope you have gotten some good ideas from Roundalab to help you recruit new dancers and, just as importantly, retain the ones you already have. If not, then we haven't done our jobs and we will need to work even harder in the future.
In line with this, Sandi and I were sitting at lunch one day at this past convention and the topic of the conversation came around to who should or should not attend. One of the couples mentioned the fact that some cuer friends of theirs were told by a fellow teacher back home that they should not attend Roundalab because they weren't ready. We were both totally shocked that anyone should feel this way. The Roundalab conventions are for all, teachers, cuers, beginners, no matter what level they have reached. There is always something for everyone from the earliest beginner to the most advanced Roundalab Teacher Coaches. If you ever hear anyone say something like this, we sincerely hope you will set them straight. The only requirement to attend our convention is to belong to the Association.
As we said in the last issue, we are very strong believers in participation in this organization. There are, of course, many ways of participating and we realize that not everyone can attend every convention. This is not what we are asking. We are only asking that you attend as often as you can and when you cannot, then volunteer to work on a committee. Your ideas and advice are every bit as important as the next person's and we need to hear from you.
Our next convention, in St Paul, MN, is looking to be another fantastic event. Jerry and Diana Broadwater are the chairs this year and, if you haven't already heard, they have secured, with the cooperation of the NSDC, wood floors for us to dance on. The education program is well under way and since there is less and less operating functions to deal with, we get more and more education. How can you lose? We do, however, have only 100 rooms set aside for our convention. It would be really nice if we had to go to the hotel and ask for more. Check out the information elsewhere in this journal and send in your registrations. We need your support.
Don't forget, our door is always open, our phone is always on and our computer never sleeps. We want to hear from you!
