The Cue Sheet Writing Guidelines have been prepared by ROUNDALAB for your use.  They should be used as a tool when writing a cue sheet for your choreography.  Both new and experienced choreographers are encouraged to follow these guidelines so that all cue sheets have a similar format.  These are guidelines -- not rules.  Because there are so many different kinds of equipment and computer programs used by choreographers, it may be difficult to follow the guidelines precisely.  However, if a choreographer follows the guidelines as closely as possible, the end result will be gratifying to you as a choreographer and to the teacher or student who has to read it.

The following pages are devoted to sample cue sheets, cue sheet explanation, some general notes and samples of cue sheets in various rhythms.   The following ROUNDALAB publications were used as references to prepare the cue sheets:  Phase Manuals I-VI,  Abbreviations of Round Dancing, Cueing Guidelines, and Glossary.

ROUNDALAB ENCOURAGES YOU TO USE ALL OF THE RESOURCES IT MAKES AVAILABLE TO YOU.

Note: The formatting of this document, especially the cue sheet examples, may not be exactly like the Cue Sheet Writing Guidelines published by ROUNDALAB. However, the essential characteristics of the Guidelines as suggested by ROUNDALAB are present and should provide sufficient information to write a cue sheet according to those Guidelines. Hard copies of the Guidelines may be purchased from ROUNDALAB (See the Catalog)
